Even in a challenging market, some firms are not just growing but growing fast. The 58 firms on this year’s newly released Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list are prime examples.

A variety of factors fueled their growth, but concentrating on its core strength is a recipe for success at I.K. Hofmann USA.

“First and foremost is our team is super-focused on what we do best, which is manufacturing and logistics,” CEO Patricia Quintero said. “We are not trying to be all things to all people.”

The Atlanta-headquartered firm also prioritizes investing in AI tools to bolster growth, enabling recruiters and managers to spend more time with people.

And there’s the vital contributions of the workers themselves, on which firms like I.K. Hofmann USA thrive.

“Our team knows our employees,” Quintero said. “They aren’t just a list of names on a sheet. We actually know them as people and know what their goals and ambitions are.”

For external workers, the company offers training, including skills training, provides no-interest hardship loans and makes sure to allocate time for employee recognition.

I.K. Hofmann is among the many firms propelling growth on SIA’s Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list, released Tuesday.

“Growth at this level does not happen by accident,” SIA President Ursula Williams said. “It requires a clear strategy, strong leadership, disciplined execution and a culture in which people are committed to moving the business forward.”

While growing in any market is an achievement, delivering sustained organic growth through years of disruption and changing workforce demands is exceptional, Williams added.

Revenue growth for all firms on the list rose to a median CAGR of 29% from last year’s 28%. The growth came even as the overall number of firms qualifying dropped to 58 this year from 99 last year. Median growth typically ranges between 20% and 30% for firms on the list, rising or falling as industry growth fluctuates. The trend diverged this year as the industry contracted 4%, even as the median CAGR for firms rose.

Of course, growth of any individual firm relies on more than just the state of the economy and the industry. Other factors such as leadership, culture and operational strategies are essential.

“The firms recognized on this year’s Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list have demonstrated the resilience, focus and collective commitment required to outperform,” Williams said.

Shift Fillers, which topped this year’s list, cited several reasons for its compound annual revenue growth rate of 102.1%.

“It’s a combination of technology, data and analytics, as well as people and how we treat them,” COO Karen Febus said.

The Moorestown, New Jersey-based firm’s vendor-on-premise model enables it to better meet clients’ needs, which helps establish trust and deeper relationships with them, Febus said. (Read more about Shift Fillers.)

Service Offerings

At Tundra Technical Solutions, expanding service offerings across segments helped drive revenue expansion.

“We’ve always sought to be a diversified business that grows organically,” President Jeremy Mack said. “We’ve never made an acquisition, and we’ve grown this way by not being dependent on one particular space and ensuring we focus on what we would call some more nontraditional spaces.”

Those spaces include energy producers, mining companies, defense companies and, most recently, AI hyperscalers.

Tundra is based in Toronto, though it qualified for the Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list with its US businesses, based in Austin, Texas. Tundra is a technical staffing firm that operates in IT and engineering and provides staffing in skilled trades with workers such as carpenters and electricians.

At its core, Tundra’s strategy revolves around aligning with the needs of clients.

“All of that’s created an opportunity for us to partner with our customers and make sure that we’re building a long-term relationship that helps them complete potentially a 10- or 15-year project or program, not just come in, make a placement and move on to the next,” Mack said.

Impactful People

Trey Smith said his firm’s core teams are behind its growth.

Smith is CEO of Elevate Healthcare Consultants and Fiber Staffing, which share the same ownership but are run separately; both appeared on the Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list this year.

“We do have some really high tenure of really impactful people inside the organization, both production and support, that have just been with us and seen this through with us,” he said.

What keeps people tethered is the leadership moving the firm forward, and that includes putting a focus on opportunities where its people can succeed.

Based in Plano, Texas, Elevate Healthcare Consultants provides physician staffing, including locum tenens. Fiber Staffing, also based in Plano, focuses on allied and other healthcare, including travel therapy.

Where the Segments Are

Nearly three-quarters of the firms on this year’s list primarily served one of three staffing segments: healthcare, IT and industrial staffing. Texas was the state with the most company headquarters at 12.

To qualify for the list, companies must have posted a compound annual growth rate of 15% or more between 2021 and 2025. They must also have had revenue of at least $1 million in 2021. Only organic growth was considered, meaning revenue from acquisitions was not included. (See the full list for all companies that qualified.)

The People

In the end, executives interviewed often pointed to treating people as their most valuable asset as helping fuel their growth, and Tundra’s Mack said that includes contingent workers.

“We’ve always looked at our talent as our customers,” he said. “We always wanted to make sure we were focused on providing the best experience possible to that talent that we place with our customers.”
